About Nashville's Contractor

Nashville's Contractor is a custom home builder serving Nashville and 64 more towns across 12 counties of Middle Tennessee — and we stake our name on how the work goes.

A custom build or an outbuilding goes wrong when the site work was never priced, the permit was never pulled, and the contract was a handshake. Our builders walk the lot first, price the utilities and the access, permit the building, and put the scope, the price and the schedule in one document.

What we do

  • Walk the lot first. Access, grade, utilities, septic and soil before a price; the lot decides half the cost.
  • Permit every structure. House, barn, garage or shop, permitted and inspected at each stage.
  • Contract the whole job. Scope, price, allowances named, schedule and payment stages in one document you read before signing.

What we will not do

  • Quote a building without a site. A square-foot number with no lot behind it is not an estimate.
  • Take a large deposit up front. Payment follows the stages of the build, not the signing of the contract.
  • Change the plan without a change order. Every change is priced and signed before it is built.

What we actually work on

Custom homes, barndominiums and pole barns in Nashville.

The custom building problems Middle Tennessee homeowners bring us most often:

  • Have the land, need a builder
  • Want shop space and living space in one
  • Barn quotes that all differ wildly
  • Detached garage that matches the house
  • Site needs grading before anything
  • Builder who will actually give a schedule

Who does the work

Every builder on our crews holds the Tennessee contractor’s license at the classification and value the job requires, carries liability and workers’ compensation coverage, and has both on file with us before a site visit.

Beyond the paperwork, the test is how somebody handles the part of a custom building job that does not go to plan — the honest call when the estimate has to change, and whether you hear about it before the work or after. The builders who stay with us are the ones who have passed that test on jobs we know about.

Why we do not publish reviews yet

No reviews on this site yet — a company this new has none to show, and a builder is judged by the buildings, which take time.

Where we work

Builders serving Nashville also take projects in Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville; the range runs to 65 towns in 12 counties. Each of the main cities has its own page — what its houses mean for custom building, who issues the permits, which neighborhoods are inside the run.

If you want to understand the work before you speak to anyone, our custom building guide covers what drives the price, what your options are and what a badly done job looks like — written so you can judge any builder in the region, including us.

Who we are

Nashville's Contractor is Michael Blair’s to own and run, and the words on these pages are his to answer for. They come from manufacturer documentation, Tennessee code and the building trade’s established practice, revised as those change, and each post carries his name and its date. Every builder on our crews is licensed, insured and held to what is promised here; Nashville's Contractor stands behind every building it puts up.

Before any builder breaks ground, us included, check the Tennessee contractor’s license and its classification on verify.tn.gov, ask to see their insurance certificate, and call your local permit office, which the city page for your town names.
